With its hybrid shell made from a combination of Mahogany and Maple woods, the Mapex Versatus delivers great sound, feel and flexibility in spades.

Hybrid Shell for Great Sound

Designed to deliver a clean and natural sound, the Mahogany aids in drying up the sound while providing a fat sound that is great when tuned low.

Thanks to the Maple aspects of the shell, you get a sound that cuts through the band and provides a wider tuning range and increased attack.

A 4-ply sound reinforcement ring has been installed to the batter side of the drum making it an 11-ply shell at this side this allows you to get a huge sound with rim shots while it dries up overtones on smaller notes.

Perfect Feel and Flexibility

To find the perfect feel, the Mapex Versatus snare shell was decided on first and has been through a number of prototype models coming in a range of sizes before the unique dimensions of 14 x 4 5/8 were chosen.

A number of aspects make the Mapex Versatus snare drum great for a wide assortment of styles including the wide tuning range and staggered lugs.

With its fantastic balance of power and finesse, the Mapex Versatus has all the sensitivity required for brushes, great articulation for light sticking and awesome control for big back beats and rock.

Extra venting has also been incorporated, helping dry out the resonance of the drum with the air release enhancing the feel.
