Description:
Vengerov is back! Maxim Vengerov announced his retirement as a violinist in 2008 due to a shoulder injury. In 2008, he announced his retirement as a violinist due to a shoulder injury, but this year, 2012, he has made a complete comeback. He came to Japan in October and gave recitals in Tokyo and Kyoto, which were a great hit with the audiences. This album was recorded live at the Wigmore Hall in London, one step ahead of the concert in Japan. The pieces are the same ones he performed in Japan, J.S. Bach's Partita No. 2 and Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata. The London audience was eager to have him back, and before the concert opened, there was a long line that went past the lobby and around Wigmore Street, and the hall seemed to be filled to capacity and full of excitement.Vengerov's charm was to make us listen violinistically with brilliant technique, but while he was on a break as a violinist, he had been focusing on conducting and teaching activities, and he showed us a stable and nostalgic musicality. The Partita was played at a leisurely tempo and slowly, and then the Kreutzer Sonata was performed with dramatic tension and power, with Itamar Golan at the piano. The encore, "Wieniawski and Brahms," is performed in a single sitting, and by the time you finish listening to the entire disc, you will be enchanted by Vengerov. This is a very promising second stage of Vengerov's career as a violinist. King International
